Be proud...
Our floorball journey for 2012 has ended. We lost to Huamin 7-2. Huamin will go on to play Concord (Concord beat ACS 7-2) in the Semi-Finals of the Bowl/Plate Competition.
I knew some of you were very sad. Even the teachers and parents were sad too.
I would like to salute the commitment shown by Mr Zaidi and Ms Eng. Their dedication and time for the boys, especially when I was away for a 3-month course, was simply amazing. Thank you so much Mr Zaidi and Ms Eng.
We would also like to thank all the parents who came to support us. Your support gave the boys the motivation and the strength to play well. Thank you, parents. (I think the boys really look forward to the 'mini-party' after each game.)
Quick Review of the 2012 tournament
Before the tornament started, the teachers and the coach had 2 targets for the team:
1. To win at least one floorball match; and
2. Not to lose to any team by more than 15 goals.
We achived the first target when we beat Mee Toh 8-2.
As for the second target, the most number of goals we conceded was 16 - against Opera Estate. Though we lost the match 16-2, we technically lost by 14 goals. Therefore, we also achieved the second target. :)
With that, it was indeed a good tournament for the boys and EDP. They have done EDP proud. Quite a number of teachers and coaches came up to me during the tournament telling me how good some of the boys are. And with more practice, they will definitely be much better next time.
Moving On...
The teachers and coach will do a review of the tournament soon. We will rectify the mistakes made.
As for the boys, it's time to rest and concentrate on the coming examinations. We will start preparing for the 2013 tournament in Semester 2.
Well done Endeavour floorball boys. We are all proud of you!

We will leave EDP at 2.40 and will be back by 5.15.

Our next game...
We will leave EDP at 2.20 pm and be back around 5.45 pm.

If we lose, we are out of the tournament.
If we win, we will play again on Thur, 26 April @ Huamin Primary School - vs Huamin (4 pm).
Do take note of the following:
1. The match against Mee Toh will be played over 2 periods of 12 min each, instead of the usual 3 periods.
2. If the match ends in a draw, there will be penalty shoot-out (see "Penalty Shot" under "Floorball Rules").
We want to win this game. All the best!!
vs Ngee Ann Primary School
Our main weakness throughout the tournament is our poor finishing. We had a lot of chances, especially in this game, to score. We must improve on this.

In Floorball, there are are two types of game-play:
1. When the opponent has the ball, then we must be on defensive mode.
2. When we have the ball, then we must be on offensive or attacking mode.
In our next game against Opera Estate (another tough opponent), defensively, we must:
1. quickly close down the player with the ball
2. not allow any of our opponents to take shots at our goal
3. pass or clear the ball away from our 'danger zone'
Offensively, we can improve by:
1. running into space (when our team-mate has possesssion of the ball)
2. getting ready to receive a pass from our team-mate
3. taking shots at the opponent's goal
All the best!

The players were both excited and nervous. At first, they were a little bit overawed by the occasion and their experienced opponent. But as the game went on, our boys gained their confidence and put up a good fight.

Although we lost, our boys should be proud of themselves. Our opponents have been playing floorball for years. As for our boys, Floorball is very much new to them. This experience will spur them on in our next game - vs another host, Anchor Green Primary School.
Lastly, we want to thank our parents for their support. We hope to see them again in our subsequent matches.
Endeavour!!!

Friendly with West Grove Primary School
We have just had our friendly game with West Grove.
I think by now you will realise that Floorball is an enjoyable sport. However, you need to be very fit to play it as there are a lot of running. Regardless of how tired you are, the game goes on and the team needs you!
Lastly, we need to better protect our goalpost and our goalkeeper. Our opponents must not be allowed to take shots at our goal.

Anyway, there are a few good news...
1. Mr Zaidi and Ms Eng Cui Shan will be with us. Just like you, they too can't wait for Floorball to start.
2. We will have a coach this year. His name is Coach Farid. He coached Canberra Sec last year and most of you are aware how skillful he is in Floorball.
3. EDP will send in a junior boys team to take part in Floorball Competition in March. We wish them the very best.
4. Floorball CCA will now be on every Wednesday, 2.15 to 4.15 p.m. You will be happy to know that we will have the whole hall to ourselves.
So, see you on Wednesday, 11 Jan 2012. Don't forget to bring along your Floorball stick. ;)
