Which stick is best for me? (part 3 of 3)

Well, there are other things you need to take note of while buying a stick. However, the points I'm going to state here are not as important as the one I've mentioned earlier.

  • Flex
  • Weight
  • Shape of the shaft
  • Stiffness and material of the blade
  • Open face
  • Cavity
  • Grip
As you can see, there's still many points to look out for when choosing a stick. So before buying any stick, do your research and ask around, which stick suits you more?

And before buying, do try them out. If it feels right, and you can get good shots and passes, you may gotten yourself the right stick for you!

Which stick is best for me? (part 2 of 3)

Does the length of the stick matter?

Yup, it does matter a lot!

  • How tall you are is the most important factor

  • Always choose a stick that you feel most comfortable with

Too long will hinder your movement and too short will hurt your back.

A stick that is up to about your chest level will be fine.

Longer stick will give you a better range. With a shorter stick, you will be able to handle the ball more efficiently and a quicker ball handling.

Which stick is best for me? (part 1 of 3)

Okay, this is a burning question to most of you I believe when you are choosing a stick. However, do take note of this...

Do not choose left or right (blade) depending on whether you are left-handed or right-handed

Yup, that's right. It doesn't mean that if you are a right handed person, you HAVE to choose a right curved blade.

Making the wrong choice will disadvantage your play enormously. So please, before you make any purchase, do speak to us first.

Being right-handed, shooting on the left will generally give you better stick handling.
There is a good reason why blades are produced for both left and right shooters. However, players who are right-handed, more generally shoot on the left. The reason is that the right hand is on the top, and thus allows you better control over the stick. Conversely, being left-handed, shooting on the right allows better stick control.

Hope this give you a better idea! :)

It doesn't matter if we lose out in terms of size, speed or even skills... Just like this girl in the picture above, if you give your best in everything you do, you can easily triumph anything (Floorball, games, or even studies)

You can also do some easy fitness drills at home to keep yourself fit! :) Do a few (example: planking for 1 minute everyday, 30 push up, skip for 50 times without stopping, skip the lift and take the stairs, a slow jog around your neighborhood ...) everyday and do not be a couch potato at home!

1. Planking
Lie facedown resting on forearms. Push up onto toes, keeping the body as straight as possible. Draw the belly button toward the spine, squeeze your glutes and abs and hold for 30 seconds. Rest one minute, then do the move again. (Repeat once.)

2. Push up

3. Skipping

Enjoy your holiday and see you on 23 June! :)

Our journey ends on Friday...

(Videos are up)

That's right.
This sums up my thoughts on our Senior Team.

3 years ago, they first came into contact with this sport. (I was watching them from the side and wasn't in Floorball then) I was thinking, "what are they doing?"

2 years ago, we participated in our very first competition, National Junior Floorball Championship 2012.
It was a good exposure for us, and we kind of knew how the standard was like at National level. It was an
eye-opener for me too as I never expected Primary School Floorball standard to be pitched this high.
We got trashed... Badly.
But that did not stop us.

Last year, we participated again. We fought smart and hard. And under coach Syahmi (thanks a lot abang!), we were considered the underdogs (after all, we were at the bottom in 2012).

This year, coach YS took over. We had a slow start, but slowly, we found our game.

Yes, our Seniors grow up soooo fast.

Through this game, they learnt not only the skills and tactics of this game. Most importantly...

It's been an amazing journey with you guys :)

Thank you mummies and daddies for taking time off from your busy schedule to support your son and the team. Without your support, we wouldn't have made this far.

Thank you for the little treats you had prepared for the team during every match.

With all of you supporting us, it felt like we had a 6th man on the court!

Last match guys...

GIVE YOUR BEST SHOT!
